Simon Gillespie graduated from the Guildford School of Acting (UK) alongside Michael Ball (Les Misérables), Celia Imrie (Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), Owen Teale (Game of Thrones) and Brenda Blethyn (Vera) and arrived in Australia in November of 1996, having escaped from a successful career as an actor, singer and director in his native England.
His sets are varied and well crafted, ranging from Broadway hits through timeless classic to more recent material. Whether performing his up-close-and-personal set or in his personal tribute to the greatest of all Australian singer-songwriters: Peter Allen. Simon’s delivery is both sophisticated, ‘tongue-in-cheek’ and always completely individual. This is true entertainment.
Ranging from Musicals, timeless classics and more contemporary material Simon has a keen eye for the unusual, often featuring pithy, no-holds-barred cabaret ditties which leave his audiences giggling wickedly. His up-close-and-personal set as well as his personal tribute to the greatest of all Australian singer-songwriters; Peter Allen, are delivered with sophistication, ‘tongue-in-cheek’ and great individuality. This is true entertainment.
His long experience in theatre, TV, film, radio and cabaret result in an exacting and energetic performer, with an eye for detail and the ability, determination and sheer willpower to deliver. He remains one of Sydney's most enduring and popular entertainers and is always 'in-demand' on cruise lines internationally.
